Just released Nikon D2X

Hello Greg

Of course there is a moderator in this forum - I am reading EVERY single post - and think about taking action soon.

kind regards

Walter

Walter and posters: While I'm not at all for censorship (or anything that approaches it), there are some posts here that offer nothing substantive towards the discussion. In fact, these off-topic posts serve to inflame or distract from the flow of conversation and sharing of valued opinions and facts. The solution is, for those that want to "debate" issues that aren't on topic, to make their own thread and abide by rules of the forum. Unless their purpose is to harass and inflame, it's an easy request by which to abide.

You know......a LONG time ago....I stopped posting here because of the board domination by a few know it all personalitys.....the "I know whats best.....and I will tell you what is right" approaches. If this keeps up.....I wolnt even be a lurker much longer.

Dear Russel
Dear Members

I want to keep the forum "clean" - be sure about this. If I start now to delete all "off topic" - it would be a nightmare. Of course, I do agree - if "someone" want to distract and inflame the forum/topic - I will take action - but as well I do not want to censore messages, unless there is some personal offense; please understand.

If, again "some posters" are inflaming, insulting, posting off topic without sense - I will delete the posts, and ask the poster to stop this BS.

If this is going on by the same person, I have other possibilities to stop him (HE should be aware of this)

kind regards

Walter

Hello group.
I came looking for info regarding the D2X. Down deep I really didn't expect to find anything I haven't already read somewhere else, but the impending excitement of this new release has me looking for news anyway.
I currently shoot an F5 with three f2.8 zooms. I also own two Minoltas that mean a great deal to me. The F5 is for wedding duty and wildlife, along with a Hassy 503CW for portraiture and landscape.
I've read this entire thread, and except for the names... it's all very familiar sounding to other forums I frequent, like deja-vu. The play is the same, the actors different. But, I still enjoyed the different viewpoints and the international flavour I've read here. This is the only exposure I get to other shooters as I live a long way from the nearest camera store, deep in the woods of Ontario. Even the bickering back and forth can be educational. For instance, I've learned who in this thread I'm likely to learn from in the future. Whose opinion won't interest me at all. Those who lack tolerance and would rather fuel the fire than skip the post (often the least experienced of the group) and those who quite obviously have a computer on their desk 8 hours a day and a dead-end job to go with it (otherwise wouldn't they all be out shooting in their valuable spare time rather than monitoring all these lists?).
Mr. Bolch couldn't be more right when he suggests you purchase and use the equipment that bests suits the job at hand, regardless of brand, assumming it is one of the proven and trusted names. No one camera will ever 'do it all'. For this reason I look forward to my first digital camera, be it a D2H or D2X, so I can explore the possibilities available. I have purposely held off buying a film scanner for this reason. So, I gain a great deal from the experiences of others in this regard, all the while learning the pros and cons so I can make the best informed choice for me. I would never ask someone else what 'I' should buy... how could they possibly know? So, on that note, I'm settling in for the ride.
Gup.

Gup: So nice to meet another voice of reason, as well as one with your experience.

My choice (by buying with my own budget) was to buy the D-100 ($1450 USD one yr ago). It solved my partic. prof. and personal needs. Had I had the $$$ and waited a bit, I might have chosen the D2X. Though, I must admit, I eagerly anticipate a possible medium format innovation soon that could attract this frugal prof photographer.

> Here, here, I agree whole-heartedly with Greg. I signed up on this forum to learn new information and lately all I see is posturing and chest-thumping. The crap I have seen lately in the past 25 e-mails has nothing to do with the Nikon D2x. Why don't you idiots take your comments to the mailbox and send a letter. Let those of us eager for knowledge see some real info and not a bunch of egos.

I would really like to hear from someone who has shot some pictures with the D2x on how they liked the skin tones. I have been thinking about getting another digital camera to complement my D70 and am considering either the D2x or the Fuji S3 and I would love to hear the pluses and minuses on both.

> Walter, if you are supposed to be the moderator, then DO YOUR JOB and put an end to all this crap. If there is much more of this, then I will unsubscribe. Those egomaniacs are making me waste my time hunting for real info. >
