Just released Nikon D2X

I have been reading very many general statements with regards to previous postings and I felt it shouldn't go without a redress.

It seems to me that the like of PAUL and KEITH would like to see the end of this forum. The duo have never ever contributed in any way to pushing this forum forward but I did. I started it rolling again this year. I have raised issues ranging from, digital vs film, digiback for the F5, support for the D70 against S3, ex&les of works, ISO issues, sky resolution with a digital capture, d2h price cut, and now the realease of the new Capture 4.2.

What do I get, nothing, nothing at all from this forum but insult from those who belief they know it better. However visiting their websites you find no image to right home about and that includes KEITH and PAUL. The duo claim they have 100years of experience, yet they have not written any text, no scientific publication to their name, nothing at all, not even any constructive contribution in this forum. Speaking about their photographs, then they must have been repeating the same error they made on photography techniques when they first held their (first second hand) camera. No wonder their image are offered for a dollar or two and even this is too much asking.

Finally, I have decided to unsubscribe from the mail list but I'll be keeping an eye on the posts, just in case someone oversteps the bounds.
 
LOL - Again nothing but complaining and trite insults. I would challenge you to top even the worst on my site dude - I am no pro but I can tell you would make a pimple on my ass! Where is you work at? Evidently not good enough to post anything online! I place my images there for critique - not to toot my horn! I am very comfortable with my abilities and don't need someone such as your self to validate me - I get validation from the competitions I enter and the pay I receive for my services! So no matter what you think - you will never stop me for making a living doing what I do! So Adios - can't say I am sad to see you carry your ass! Keith
 
Well to put it bluntly I guess I am considered pro as this is how I put food on the table - not saying I do not have a lot yet to learn. I have seen some better and some not as good as the work I do - when it comes to fast action sports I have little experience - when it comes to wildlife and nature I have a decent handle on that! So I really fall somewhere in between I assume... Being a Pro is a relative term IMHO - I have seen people that call themselves "Pro" that would not hold a candle to the work I do - just as I have seen people that consider themselves amateur that manage some awesome shots! So What is a "PRO"? I think it is someone that makes a living with his/her work... What do you think? Keith

Note to Walter - He knows. Way past time to do something. If this problem isn't solved by end of week, I'm unsubscribing or create an email filter for "Just released: Nikon D2X". I would have unsubscribed from just this group awhile back but it doesn't look like you can unsubscribe from just this forum but one has to unsubscribe to the entire digital forum set. This will be my only post on this subject and it is just to encourage Walter to exercise some Moderatorial power.

Edmonton, Alberta here. A year or so back, I took over the ownership of the Yahoo PhotoGallery forum which might interest you. It is as far from a group of "trainspotters" as a photographers' forum can be. It has its roots a decade and a half back in old FidoNet. If there is a topic, it is life through a photographer's eyes. The group is diverse, active and quite vivid. There is a place to display one's work and attachments are encouraged when one is making a point.

The membership is quite diverse from beginners to pros and teachers. It is a gathering place for photographers, rather than a forum about photography - though of course photography permiates everything. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PhotoGallery/

I also founded the Coolpix 8MP forum which is primarily aimed at an exchange of ideas among users of high-end Coolpix cameras, but is open to any photographic topic. Somewhat tighter in topic than the PhotoGallery, but still far from trainspotters. We even have some Canon users who co-exist peacefully. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Coolpix_8MP/

I moderate both in moderation. Mostly a matter of zapping the occasional spammer. I do what I can to make both a very positive experience for photographers.

I am a Locomotive Engineer, and earn my $$$$$$$$ thru that, thus I am a Pro LE. I have sold some of my photographic work, thus that makes me a "Semi Pro" Photographer, as I have derived some income from photography. I will post some of my work from my recently purchased D70 soon. With Film I have always tried to get the Image I want BEFORE it gets processed. I have seen some people that have used Digital getting an Image and then put it in Photoshop to create the result they desire. I have gone Digital now as I need the speed to get images to publishers, as i was well behind the 8 ball with the Negs off the Ole' F90x. I am still in Learning mode with the D70, hence I value the input on this forum. My "Aim" is still to produce the image on the Camera and Not in Photoshop. Cheers, Ian Thornton.
 
My daughter shoots the D70 - I shot it a few times and I just cant get the feel of it after shooting the D1x/D100 units - It is a great camera and very quick - instant on helps a lot of times as well. I will be up loading a new gallery of images I shot with the D1X at a professional Bull riding Event I shot this past weekend - I managed a few really nice images from it. Shooting it freelance for a local media company that owns six radio stations in this market. I post the link for some critiques if anyone cares to give them a look? Keith

The 'net term is a "trainspotting" forum. At its ultimate, members list all their equipment without comment or discussion. To discuss how to use it, or the actual purpose for which it was purchased - photography - is therefore off-topic.
