Check out Luigi's cases on Ebay... they're made in Italy and are beautiful. The Italians know how to work with leather!

Just received one of Luigi's half cases. I have never been that much in favour of adding attachments to Leicas but this article is excellent. I bought the green ostrich leather version with built-in grip.

I posted my cheque last Thursday and my case arrived today (Thursday). Pretty good service.

Dear Mike,
I really want to ask you how do you feel the craftmanship and the general usability of Luigi's series, especially of the one you bought with the built-in grip.
Knowing the cost of leather here in Italy his prices are extremely high (believe me) but if the finish and the overall quality of the item is satisfactory maybe it could be worth it.

Hi Enrico

The quality and finish of the case is first class. The leather has a nice sheen and the stitching appears to be tight and strong. Also it is a good tight fit on the camera and does not increase its size too much. I was going to buy a grip anyway so the case has fullfilled this function as well as protecting the body. The grip is not too obtrusive. The opening at the front allows for movement of the frame selection lever, however the case slightly overlaps the lens release button on the other side. On my M6 this is not a problem, simply pressing on the case releases the lens easily.

I am a certainly not an expert on leather goods, however I do not think the price of $240(E194) + shipping would be considered all that expensive for a hand-made specialist article in the UK. I am pleased with it.

I hope I'm not out of order by widening the question of cases.
My outfit consists of a M6ttl body + Tri-Elmar + 90mm Macro- Elmar + Close focus attachment.
This combination satisfies most of my photographic needs despite being limited to f4.0 maximum aperture.
I just can't find a small case to carry it plus some films (and possibly the Leitz flashgun).
Like many of you, I possess various combination cases, but none hold this particular outfit satisfactorily.
Am I asking too much?
Help please.

I can personally recommend the Crumpler 'Budgie Smuggler' as a nice case for a modest M system. I used mine alternatly for my M system (M7, 50 Summilux, 35 Summicron, and 90 Tele-Elmarit) or for my Digital Rebel with two smaller lenses. There is a lot of padding, a bit of room left over for film or a small flash, and it is built to last. The bag is not tiny, but it is not huge either, and it does not look like a big fancy camera bag.

Oh yes, I have to say I use the Kameraleader half-case on the M7 and I LOVE it - a really beautiful piece of functional perfection. I have no need for a full everready case any longer. When shooting, the half case is perfect. When not shooting, the bag is where it goes.

One not too expensive bag that holds my M6 TTL with 50 mm , plus
90mm cron + 75 mm C/V + 35 mm cron + space for another lens or flash and still room to spare in side pouches is the Jessops Town and Country Photo bag Medium that sells in their site for £34.99.

Michael, at the weekend I used my LowePro Street & Field Utility Case. This goes over the shoulder (it comes with a shoulder strap but I have fitted a more heavy-duty and comfortable one) or on a (sturdy) belt. It holds: M7 with Rapidgrip and 50mm Elmar and neoprene shoulder strap, 135mm f4, 90mm 2.8 and 35mm Summicron with hood attached held together by a b2b coupling ring, a 15mm VC with finder and 6-8 rolls of film.

It's ideal for wandering around for a few hours, and measures approx 9"x5"x6" fully packed. it has document pockets and adequate padding. It is black, and completely inconspicuous - my Wife's handbag is larger!
