M7 Metering problems

Hi Rick,

I bought my M7 two months ago. Checked what you described and my M7 did the same. One thing that I noticed which you didn't mention. From 2" and lower onwards only the right red triangle blinks. But when 32" is displayed, both the triangle and the shutter speed LEDs blink. Perhaps the warnings are meant to be different! I reckon the first one is a warning to user that the exposure is close to the end of the manual setting range whereas the 32" one is to warn us that it is even beyond the AUTO range.

On a different note. Nearly two months on with over 10 rolls of 36 films taken with my M7 it is still running on the original factory supplied batteries. Perhaps the reason for this is that my M7 has a serial no. of 2888xxx which does not suffer that much from the battery drain problem as earlier batches do.

Hi Mark,

I had the same experience like you. I live in Hong Kong and I bought M7 one month ago. When I loaded Kodak B&W 400 into my M7, it turned out to be "25" when the camera was turned up. I brought my M7 to the official dealer in Hong Kong, they took 3 days to check my M7. However, they reported to me that no fault was found. Although the relative humidity in Hong Kong is quite high, such experience has not been found in my Contax and Nikon gears. I wonder that M7 is supposed to be a "mechanical" camera compared with my Nikon F90X and Contax N1, and hence, M7 is supposed to be more durable and tolerable in tough weather condition.

Please kindly advise what I can do now? and please advise have you fixed such problem on your M7. Thanks!

Hi Mark,
I am living in Moscow and I am the owner of M7. I had the same problem with the exposure after swithing on. The problem might be in the specific of electronic programm of the camera. The recommendation of the site www.nemeng.com is to follow the next way: when you switching on your camera the lens cover should be out from the lens or the shutter disk should be fixed in a position different of "Auto", for ex&le in "250". If you swithed on the camera with the cover on the lens or in "Auto" position you have to turn on the shutter disk to another position and then to fix at "Auto" again. Several times I met such kind of problems and after dulfiling the above mentioned recommendation the problem was solved.
Please read the mentioned site. It is very useful.
Regards, Alexander
