M7

Daniel

A greater sin than the extra batteries is the fact you failed to take your M3 along with you <LOL>

I’d be interested to know how you have been getting on with just the two mechanical speeds. Are they much use in practice? Not being used to electronic cameras I keep taking it for granted that the M7 is just another M and will just keep going. I have to remind myself that it aint like the others and needs battery power.

Cheers Craig

Yes - my M3 is sitting at home on display......

I do have my M6 along with the M7 on this trip, so not a problem of missed shots. My shots have been in daylight so far with the M7 and I manage alright with the two speeds on the M7. It would have been a problem if my M6 was not with me and when I have to shoot under limited light.

By the way, this is my first roll with the M7 which I just bought over from someone and have yet to see the results of my shots. I am still learning about the handling of this camera as compared with my M6.

Kind regards - Daniel

in that case you are forgiven no sins have been committed.

However, “my M3 is sitting at home on display†I hope this is not a permanent condition. Having an idol M3 is the greatest sin of all!

It’s funny that you mentioned that you're are getting used to the M7 compared with the M6. I was just recently discussing this topic with another forum member. I used to think of the M7 simply as an M6TTL with the extra option of AE, but I have come to learn that this was an overly simplistic view. The M7 IMHO is an M model with its own subtle manners in its own right, just as the M3 is not an M2 or M4. The M7 too has a character and feal all its own.

Craig - Just got back from my travels... thought you may dig me on not using my M3. I should be using it in the near future when I get a strap for it. Thanks for the reminder that I should not idolise it.

I agree with you that the M7 has its own character. Much as the similarity of the M7 to my M6 in the ergonomics, I have yet to get the "feel" of the former in my hands. The M6 sits in my hands very well, even without the grip etc. Maybe I need to burn more film with the M7 before my hands will make a "mould" around it. The shutter release is not as smooth as my M6, again this may be attributed to its newness. The weight of the M7 appears heavier. What matters most to me is that it does record good pictures for me and I believe it is not a mistake buying this M7.
