Minimal Motivation

Scootered around the gardens this morning, virtually no color & everything cut back. Looked hard very little to photograph.

Still... you were "out" and got some shots! #1 is good. #3 could maybe have a little more background on the left beyond red berry. #2 is a hardy leaf that didn't follow his/her buddies to the ground (yet).

RE: #1... the "blue" is nice... I'll assume it is blue sky... for optimism purposes! Also, I like the shallow DOF on all three. I need to try that out a little more. I'm usually an f/11 or an f/16 kind of shooter... not very creative/artsy.

Aloha, I appreciate your kind comments, I was using the Leica 60mm macro TL (f8) on the CL. Regard.

Yes... Aloha! What a beautiful word. My first camera was a hefty/solid black M5 rangefinder. I had to sell my car to pay for college back in the 1970's and my dad felt bad about it, so he gave me one of his cameras... to more-or-less make-up for it. What a wonderful thing it was... the gesture and the camera. As a kid, following my mom and dad around on hikes in the mountains and on other family outings, I had been playing around with (my dad's) Kodak instamatics in the 1960's (100, 104, 304, 804, X90, Instamatic Reflex) - so I was generally attuned to picture taking. With the M5, I had the 35/1.4 and the 90/2. Having only a 35 and a 90, it makes you think! Then, after a couple of years (and realizing that I could NOT afford to buy E. Leitz GmbH glass) I traded all of it for a couple of Canon AE-1 bodies and several FD lenses (including "zoom" lenses -- LOL). That was fun. I still have the Canon film stuff. In 1998, I bought an Oly D320L. After that, a Panny FZ30 (really nice). Followed by a D300, D7100 and a D810. I'm a happy camper! You mentioned the 60mm macro TL for these pics... very nice! And that's interesting... because not long ago I bought a used/2nd hand Nikkor 60mm AF-S 2.8G "micro" and I REALLY like it for general shooting. Plus, I ordered the ES-2 adapter so I can now easily digitize some of the old family slides (I had been using a Plustek scanner... which was very slow). I have messed around with the 60mm/ES-2 combo a little bit... and I will say... there is definitely "something" about film (even after you've captured it with a digital camera). When you do some PP, you instantly notice (by the way things "react") that there nuances in the shadows and the colors that it seems only film can capture. Warm and organic. It's weird but it is evident (to me). Anyway... there is a very soft spot in my heart for Leica! Even though it is the butt of many jokes. But hey, people are just jealous! ;-) LOL.

Hi, I notice you had a Nikon D300, I had one, a great camera, I gave it to my son with 3 lenses. He’s a great photographer in his own right. I’ve lost count of the film and digital cameras I’ve owned in my 80+ years. I did ‘street’ in London for 10years in the 60’s.
Thereafter had a very nice career in a big house in London‘s Mall …
Now I have my CL with various Leica lenses, D-Lux7 and an old V-Lux40. Being disabled I have to use a mobility scooter to get around, mostly our gardens, the sidewalk/pavements here are so uneven that scootering is dangerous. Shalom
