Minolta X700 Multi function or Quartz Data Back 1

>Dear Peter, you are surely tickling us? For a techie like you to ask about downloading pictures from a multi function back...I believed instructions were uploaded to files section of a certain Minolta related Yahoo group list :)

I know the MFB Multi Function Back can't download pictures. Geesh -- you'd think I just fell off a turnip truck (I won't even try to explain the origin of THAT reference!)!

I'm talking about the Quartz DATA back - where's the data hiding in there?

I want my X-700 pictures NOW!

How do I get the picture DATA into my PC?

;-)

(Hung - did you see the incredible Minolta Dimage A1 pictures at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/minoltaphotography/ yet?)

OK Peter, just for you, but this is the last time I post this: First, you must make sure that you have the correct function card from the 7xi (I believe it's the Highlight and Shadow Control card), then you open the back of the fully exposed X-700 and insert the card between the pressure plate and the clutch, uh, I mean the film. Next attach the MD-1 motor drive to the bottom of the AutoWinder G (which should already be attached to the camera, duh), and then attach the Power Grip with the 280px flash already attached. It's very important that you already have the 280px flash attached to the powergrip when you attach it to the MD-1 or you could short circuit your Shutter Priority mode. Now after you've completed all of these steps, email me and I'll give you the rest of the instructions. ;-) Brett

Thanks, Brett!

But, dang ... and all I've got is the 360PX ... are my pics in there forever now?

Don'tcha jus hate it when you know you got data, and you can't git to it! Grrr ...

Wait a minute ... I forgot to load film!

Does that change the instructions on getting my pics out through the data back?

Is it April already? ;-)

Peter, I'm afraid that without film, your data is all but lost. To retrieve it you would need a Texas Instruments TI-99 computer or a ColecoVision with which to interface with your camera. The good news is that you aren't shooting with a Nikon, otherwise the camera would have exploded in your hand, causing blindness in both ears. Better luck next time. ;-) Brett

Saved by my Minolta!

Thanks, Brett, you've resolved my crisis and lowered my blood pressure. Can I send my dad to you for treatment?

Hey, that should be a sales slogan, eh?

Love and hugs, Peter Blaise Monahon Minolta Photographer http://www.google.com/ <- if you want to find out more about me

PS - Wiat a minute - were we talking avout a "quartz DATE back" or a "quartz DATA back" -- this things says "DATE" on it -- ooooooooh.

=8^o

... (sheepishly) I guess it never did contain any DATA!!!
