Dear members,
finally monthly challenges are coming
We were discussing the different possibilities for creating challenges already last year. Some of you made bad experiences with challenges at dpreview and raised their concerns.
Therefore I was looking for a solution, which avoids the negative part of challenges but makes challenges still possible. I tested many different technical options to bring you the best out there for our future monthly challenges/ photo contests. We finally decided for a software system to be able to make it as anonymous as possible. The image shall be in the focus, not the photographer/creator or the likes of his buddies
The solutions means more work for the moderators, because you will not be able to upload your images yourself. You will send the image to us and we will upload the images with an anonymous account. Thanks to this, nobody knows which image belongs to whom and we will have a 100% neutral rating system. Same for the voting. Nobody can see who voted for what. Neither during the challenge nor after it.
After the challenge is over, a moderator will publish the username of each image number.
There is a new section just for challenges in the forum. You will find there already test challenges. Feel free to play with the voting around to get familiar with it.
In the forum navigation bar at the top is also a link to the subforum for challenges.
The guidelines for challenges are described here:
So get ready. Oil your gear and stand by for the first challenge!
