My Favorite Bird

Not a real cute bird but one I get excited about because I don't see them often. Many times they like to stay in the shadows which doesn't help. Here are a few lucky shots I am thankful for. Thanks for viewing.

Very nice. Whimsical looking birds they are and wish we had them here. Excellent shots. Nicely caught and great seeing a pair in there.

All the best Ken.

Danny.

Great photos, especially the first one. What is it? A woodpecker of some sort?

Thank You for the kind reply. It is a Pileated Woodpecker. They are a big bird like a crow, about 17-19 inches full grown. I love their large size. They are somewhat fast flyers. They task my old Canon body's dynamic range with their black and white feathers. My old Canons also overreact to the bright red head. They don't sit long in one spot unless pecking a hole. They are fun and challenging to shoot but the bright colors are our reward in the end. Here is a link that shows their territory. Happy shooting and keep the fun.
