Navigation progression

I just read thread titled "Navigation Aid". Found out how to use the Home and End keys to get to the beginning and end of a thread. Is there a way to exit a thread and remain on the same page ie. Page 5 and not go back to the beginning of Page 1 again?

I think that the normal navigation of your browser will do this.

This behavior is the same on dpreview. Just tried experimenting, on both forums if I use the browser Alt+left arrow I can back out of the thread I'm in and continue browsing without going back to beginning of Page 1.
