Nikon D700 main/sub command dial woes

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a D700 from Ebay for a surprisingly low price. The camera works, overall, but there's three issues that I can tell.

1. The right side strap mount is "broken" and loose.
2. The main command dial does not work most of the time.
3. The sub command dial has never worked.

This wasn't disclosed (although maybe #1 was obvious if looking closely at the photos) and the seller says I can send it back within 30 days. I tried cleaning the command dials with electrical contact cleaner, but still not working.

Camera did come with the extended grip, and those command dials work which makes it functional.

I don't care for the size of the camera with the extended/vertical grip (and well, it's pretty big even without it.) It would be nice to be able to use it without.

Are there any likely fixes I can do? Is this something Nikon could fix? Not sure if it's best to return and try again.

Thank you!

I'm sure Nikon can fix it, the question is whether it is worth it. My instinct says "no".

However, you can no longer be surprised by the low price, right? ;-)

This should not be your problem. If these problems were not disclosed by the seller, simply return it to him. ebay will support you when you state the reason why. Then, please leave the seller an honest review, to make the rest of us aware he's dishonest.
