I'm sharing some photos of a tour of the Waterford Precision Cycle Co., in Waterford, WI. It was a fun event, but a little sad, as the last of the Schwinn family seems to be leaving the business for good: (for non-Americans, Schwinn was the biggest American bicycle brand for all of the 20th century)

I'm cross-posting the link to the thread in Samples & Galleries in the hopes that more members will start making threads like this. Also, because in DPR, Open Talk was the most popular subforum. I don't know if it will work out like that here too. At DPR, Open Talk was originally intended for photography-only topics that didn't fit in specific subfora.

By the way, where do you think threads like this should go? (see poll)

Could also go into Modes of Transport or Sports and Action.
Unless I'm talking about gear or wildlife I tend to throw everything into the Cafe 'cos I'm too lazy to figure out the right place to go. :)

Maybe something of a draw between "Cafe" and "Samples & Galleries." Although, thinking about this, I've never been completely sure what "samples & galleries" really meant.

I agree with the chipman, and even when I'm not too lazy to figure out where a picture should go, I still can't. No idea where to put this fabulous image I just shot of let's say, a door. Or an interesting composition of a trash pile. If I want to share a few images from my morning walk, taken with a couple different cameras of various subjects, I have no idea where to place them as a group... a bit like your tour of the Schwinn factory.

No helpful ideas tho, sorry. Maybe "Cafe" is the place or perhaps a "Here's a few I'd like to share" sub-forum (says the man who thinks there's too many subforums) :ROFLMAO:

Back in 1978 I bought a Raleigh Record Ace to make the trip to work and back as we were suffering from a gas shortage during the Carter years. The 13 mile ride was nice in the morning but brutal after it heated up over 100*F every afternoon on the way home from work. After a year or so the bike got neglected and in really bad shape.Much rust.Fast forward 40 years. Sanded it all down to metal and replaced all parts with new and had an auto body place paint it. Been riding it for the last 5 years with my grandson. Two weeks ago I purchased a vintage 1984 Raleigh capri from a yard sale for $37 in very nice condition and put about 2 hours worth of cleaning up. Now I have 2 vintage Raleighs in my stable. I should get some pics. Someone told me that the 1978 Raleigh I have was the last one made in England but I never checked it out. Just a bike story.

There should be an "OPEN" Category

How about posting the majority of images in the Sports forum and then a couple of teaser shots in the other forms mentioned with a link to the original post in Sports. Not cross-posting, cross-mentioning!

I'm thinking my sister had a Schwinn when she was a kid. My brother and I had bikes from the old True Value stores. Later on I turned my bike into a BMX, way before BMX got big. I raced once and won first place. The other rider fell! Years later I bought an old Raleigh road bike, fixed it up and rode a quarter century in Clemson, SC for the annual Ride For Raptors event. Since I live in the mountains I bought a Cannondale m300 in the '90s and did a LOT of mountain biking. Years later it got stolen when I moved back to Georgia. My brother had just bought a Cattrike (recumbent) and I was going to get one but I moved back to the mountains. I do own a modern Penny Farthing but it's at my brother's back in Georgia. Much easier to ride where it's flat.

Sorry, Jeremy, no idea about the story on the frame you posted.
