OM1 Battery Problem

Hi Mark,
don't know if you already solved your problem. I just got a Zn air battery supposedly compatible with OM1. I received the new battery today but won't try it before some time since my actual battery still works. I can't tell if it's really good. I found it in an ebay store. Link:

I paid more for mailing than the actual price of it...

Bye

> Zinc-air weincell can be used in an emergency, but once you activate the battery, it will go dead in a relatively short time. A more stable approach is the MR9 adapter with 386 silver oxide battery which yields approx. 1.35V. John, CPS www.zuiko.com

Mark,

I have two OM-1 bodies. One has been modified to accept 1.5 volt batteries, the other has a cris cam adapter. Both meter the exact same. If you do not want to modify the body, the criscam adapter works great and is cheap ($30).

cheers

As John Hermanson said, the zinc-air batteries don't last all that long, 3-4 months whether you use them or not. That said, the hearing aid variety are cheap, but they're too small. In cameras that John hasn't modified for me, I use them witn a #9 o-ring (very cheap at a hardware or home improvement store) to fill out the space in the battery chamber, and it works well.

> When I modify an OM-1 for silver oxide battery, I essentially build the electronics (schotkey diode) found in the MR9 adapter into the battery circuit. No adapter to lose. Either way works well. John, CPS, Inc. www.zuiko.com
