Pentax: New lens roadmap for APS-C & fullframe

Ricoh (Pentax) just publishes and updated roadmap for all lenses. Both for APS-C and fullframe.

Those roadmaps are always good to realize that Pentax has a large range of lenses already available and is working on even more lenses for the Pentax system.

I sincerely wish for Pentax to survive, but this seems to be a belated PR exercise since Ricoh failed to attract a buyer for the Pentax brand. The camera industry appears to be going through an enormous (disruptive) shakeout in this age of smart phones and other alternatives.

I think Ricoh has only two options now. Either stand up and fight for market share with more new products (lenses and bodies) or close the doors of the Pentax brand. Since they introduced the K1 and K3 and now this lens roadmap, I hope they opted for the first alternative.

'Other alternatives' is the game changer here, for me anyway. Up till last year I stubbornly stayed with fuji velvia 50 and Leica,SLR.. waiting for ..near perfection. Well for 600$mimt ( 900$ new) I bought a camera that's got a Leica lens, (made under license no doubt) that's . 24mm f2.8 to 1600mm F4(!!!), plus macro tlll the lens touches the flower! With setting at VividX5 and an 81A warming filter on all the time.. I see very little diff to fuji velvia. The second hand Lumix 1000 has performed flawlessly for nearly a year, as has my wife's tiny Lumix digtal.

There's no way that anybody who discovers this camera would again buy and carry a heavy set of expensive lenses.. let alone a 1600mm f4!!

do you mean the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2000?

I do think that those "superbridge" cameras have a great benefit for many and will also replace for many their ILC system. But on the other hand there are also many, who prefer a system with either interchangebale lenses or just one camera with a fixed lens like a Fuji X100 or Ricoh GR. It all depends on personal preferences and shooting style.

But for sure the FZ1000/FZ2000 and the Sony RX10 family got many fans over the last couple of years.

FZ1000.. sorry typo. great for travel, botanical,-hobby wife does Thailand wild flowers with colors that are velvia. Flower out of range for macro.. 'digital zoom' SET,, go to 1600mm f4 with lens stabilizer.. wow.. With Leica SLR and 28, 85 and 200 it was a hassle.. lens changing, weight wise, and not wide enough.. not macro enough.. or not long enough! and the camera's electrix often failed!!
