SD14 Electronic Beep

Hi All,

My new spare SD14 Body has finally arrived, I now have two tails wagging!

First task was to have my wife listen to the Electrinic 'beep' as the SD14 achieved focus, my wife was able to hear it, alas, I could not!

I can only hear the 'beep' when my ear is pressed against the camera, I hear fine with my left ear but the sound is much fainter with my right ear. I do have a hearing problem.

First task was to check the viewfinder for dust & debris and take a Sky Shot for Sensor spots, I'm pleased to report no problems in this regard.

I then updated the Firmware so next I will carry out a Focus Test and check the Viewfinder alignment. So many other things to check as well.

Best regards to all,

iMac

We have something in common. I endure severe hearing loss, with my right ear being defunct and my left ear having around 6% sensitivity. So, as you can imagine, I rely totally on a very sophisticated hearing aid for my verbal communication.

Sincere regards, JR

Hi foveonfan,

I'm due for an eye test soon, I intend to get my hearing checked at the same time.

Pity that the SD14 electronic beep is so weak, I only need the 'beep' when using the tripod along with the remote control.

Regards,

iMac

Hi, iMac!

With the greatest of respect do I chime in here re your comment.

I believe that the reason for your inability to hear the Sigma "beep" has more to do with your hearing loss being in the region of that particular audio frequency being emitted by the camera.

Trust me, as a long time hearing loss patient, I have had a great deal of information on the subject explained to me by doctors and hearing aid technicians.

As an aside, the "beep" is clearly audible to me through my hearing aid.

Sincere regards, JR

Hi JR,

My GP agrees that a hearing aid is indicated & has arranged a hearing test for me.
He has also arranged for me to see a spinal specialist to investigate the cause of my lower back pain.

My recent eye test revealed an age related loss of vision in my left eye, I have been referred to an eye specialist.

I'm falling apart.................

Regards,

iMac
