Showering dove or my first test with the 300/4+TC17 combo

here are my first images shot with this combo (D300+AF-S 300/4+TC17 @f6.7 (wide open).

What do you think?

This combo looks good. Is it difficult to do handhold shots with it? Or did you use a tripod?

I used a tripod, but with a more or less loose ballhead (friction quite tight) in order to be able to react quickly.
