Now I know that nobody actively "hid" the HD FA 43mm/f1.9 from me all those years and I actually went out and splurged for once today to get one so I can go travel light on a 4 hour flight to see my baby grandson.
I suppose I just ignored the obvious for the 15+ years I've been shooting Pentax. Feel so stupid now!

I wanted small, portrait, fast and quality on my KP and boy, oh boy! On my first walk in the park this little wonder already delivered on its promise and I didn't even try that hard. I am SOOOO going to enjoy this little miracle!

Nice images!

I bought myself 2 limited. The 43mm and the 77mm to use it with an adapter on my Lumix S5. Really nice lenses!

See also the FAQ for image uploading. Look there at the screenshots. Thumbnails are bigger. I edited this for you in the above posting.

There's lots of love for that lens at Pentax Forums. You've already produced some nice results with yours. I don't have one, but I do have its grandfather, the M40f2.8, and I find it to be amazing and really fun to use.

Thanks for the heads up and the edit! Will try to follow next time.

Thanks so much! At some stage I owned the DA 40mm f2.8 XS which is optically more related to the M40 you mentioned and shares the same optical formula (5 elements in 4 groups) though not the more modern HD coatings. I was not so impressed by it and eventually sold it. The 43mm Ltd really bears no relationship to the M40 with its 7 elements in 6 groups. As far as I can ascertain in such a short time using it, it is indeed a spectacular optic and blows much of my other quality glass out of the water, even the DA*50-135mm at its widest 50mm and f2.8

Stop it !! Please.
Posts like these showing the excellent rendering any of the 3 Amigos are going to cost me a lot of money should Pentax ever make a smaller (N750 ish size) FF body.

I could probably adapt them onto my Z5, but then I wouldn't get the true Pentaxian experience, which is important. (to me -- and a few of you as well) :D

Not bad, for a lens without a zoom ring ;):D

Yes the images are well rendered here. I do not own yet the 77 nor 43 nor 31mm I do own the 20 to 40mm and 70mm which are great but need careful processing because I am sure they are too contrasty. Great but contrasty. Your lens looks fine and well suited to spring shots.
