SLR in Jungle

Hi Steve,
A Mirror lens uses a combination of lenses and mirrors to reflect light within the lens.
It basically enables telephoto lenses to be made smaller and lighter.
The downside is that image quality is usually poor compared to normal lenses, and they are a fixed aperture (normally f8). They are generally not very highly regarded.

I found this link that may be useful for you, as I noticed from previous posts your course may not work out. http://www.silverlight.co.uk/tutorials/index.html

Books are always a good starting point, I understand Douglas Adams wrote some good ones;-) . I would suggest you fork out £20-30 on a couple of good books on basic photography and read them well. It will give you something you can refer back to easily and they will be well worth the investment.

Cheers,
Matt
