Underexposed

I have a Nikon D810. I use it mainly for landscape photography and night photography. It has been a great camera, but I have had a certain issue where it will begin to take pictures that are underexposed. It seemingly doesn’t matter what settings I try, it will be underexposed by the same amount.
I don’t know if this is brought on because of something I have done, or a defect, but comes and goes randomly. I have tried doing a factory reset and changing lenses, with no success. It may do this for 50 or 100 shots and then suddenly go back to normal……Any ideas?
