Nice that you can get down low to take that shot. At 78 years old I can still get down but getting back up is a lot more difficult. (LOL)

It is interesting that the green leaves are very different from the usual broad leaves of the cultivated peonies. Where is this located? Perhaps the 'ancestral' home of the modern hybridized peonies, like the tulip plant originally came from Turkey.

Those leaves look different too. Most of my peony plants (about10-12) look like the following photo, white, red, or pink. Some I planted over the past 7 years at our country place, some were planted up to 30+ years ago by previous owners of the property.

Sometimes there are yellow wild peonies together with red peonies, and the shape of their flowers is different...
