Decades of Zeiss quality

Which lens is a discussion that ofthen comes up at the forum.

Good to remember how excellent earlier designs of Carl Zeiss are.

These days lenses from this era can be picked up for a song.
It gives newcomers an excellent opportunity to get a kit with 50/80/150 lenses
for the price that is not even half the cost of a single new lens.

This lens was recently sold for less than 300 euro.
It shows some signs of prior use but glass and mechanics are in excellent condition.
The later 50 CF FLE is a better lens but it will cost twice as much in used condition.
A new 50 CFi lens demands more than 3000 euro now......

I am not sure which lens I'll get next, either the 50 or 150 and I'm leaning towards the 50. Great pictures, thanks for the post!

i shot it on Acros 100 (rated at 100 asa) and developed in Kodak Xtol at 8 mins 20 degrees.....i used water as stop bath between developer and fixing.....then i scanned them on my drum scanner connected to a Apple Powerbook G3 running System 9 and SCSI cable!!!!!

Im looking forward to doing some darkroom prints off this set actually....should be pretty three-dimentional on some Ilford or Forte paper i have......

Sperera,

Great set of pics here.

Miss World's sister no less?

I like them all but the lighting and pose in the first picture is superb. I take it you used some fill in flash?

Regards,
Seoirse.

yes it was a very drab day and the light was down....it was a long long hike to get here and we were packing a battery pack with a 600w head just to lift her up a bit.....i was in water and it wasnt easy.....!!!!!!!!!! I have a lot of satisfaction from this shoot because of the difficulty of it and also cos it gave the girl a huge lift as her sister's getting all the attention these days!!!!

I do not mind settling for second best.........

Great shots that seem easy to do untill you try to get this kind of result.

Like other users my favourite is the first shot.
Well balanced lighting, excellent framing with of course a great looking subject.

About time to look for some later lenses to get maximum results from your scanner.
That is the only minor critisism I can think of.

Vic.

very nice comments my friend and Ive just bought a 50mm CF FLE from Polypal!!!!!!!! so you are a wise man indeed!!!!!!
