Why is the Data Back for the G3 so expensive

Why is the data back (GD-2) for the G2 so expensive? It costs around $600 and is two to three times as expensive as those for other Contax cameras. Why is it priced so much higher?

Hi Phil,

It's the same price as the one for the Aria and the one for the AX. It is far more than just a simply datE back. It can record between the frames as well as on the first 2/3 frames, exposure information as well. It also has a built-in intervalometer. They typically sell for quite a bit less than $600 (that is the "list" price).

Why is a Contax lens hood and lens cap so expensive? Seems all extra items cost with this company.

The average price for the G2 databack is $550 while the one for the N1 is $350. These are apparently the same electronically. Both will imprint exposure data.

My question is, Why is the "G3" itself so damn expensive??
Must be made of unobtainium.
