Would you go for this camera?

Who wants a brick like a F4? I mean it was cool at its time, but completely out of place today. Or are you just asking about the control dials?

No, no for me as being mostly a bird/nature photographer I'm more interested in APS-C.

Now, a Z-mount D500 replacement might get my blood pumping!

Mostly about an direct interface for most of the controls, like the F4 had. I had an F4s and didn't keep it on account of the weight, but I really liked the configuration. (I kept my N90s [F90s] instead)

In a modern iteration, there would have to be SOME kind of menu options for it to be competitive, but a serious photographer (amateur or pro) would be able to get his job done with just basic mechanical controls. A lot of the Fuji guys just revel in these controls, which we could argue were inspired by the F4. (ex. dedicated exposure compensation dial)

It could have the F4's hand-filling ergonomics without being so heavy, nowadays. It could accommodate AA batteries; THAT was a nice feature, not to be locked into proprietary batteries... Who cares if shot count is only 200, if one can just swap in a set of AAs?

Gotcha. But no, I think the 2-command dials approach of modern DSLRs and Z mirrorless bodies is superior, more ergonomic and faster to operate. I don't have nostalgic feelings and am out

You mean a full frame with dials for everything? There is a reason everybody switched to PASM now. I grew up in the old style and some like the retro look of dials. But most find the two flexible dials and the user modes more useful. Since Nikon Z lenses do not have true aperture rings anymore, you won't have the old fun anyway.

FF Nikon Z body with Z5 capabilities, but F4-style control layout @ Z5 pricing.

(hmm, what happened to the poll option?)
No, no FX for me. I will wait until Nikon delivers a Z500 or a DX-Pro derived from the F9 or better. But FX makes me yawn.
