ABOUT White Balance with the SD14

Hi Richie,

what am I supposed to say?! :)

SD 14 colours are somehow clearer, more shiny and brighter (obvious in the foreground).

That is what we all love it for!

Both shots differ in their DOFs (depth of fields).

There it becomes difficult. To compare DOF (at cams which employ different sensor sizes) , you must use lenses with exactly the same angle of visions ... NOT with the same focal lengthes.
Further, you must go for the same aperture values at both lenses.

The outcome now is very predictable. The SIGMA has a noticable broader range of sharpness (i.e. the area around the exact and optimal focus, which displays acceptable sharpness).

Simply put, the 1D has a 1.3x CROP (APS-H sensor size) compared to SIGMA's 1.7x CROP (APS-C sensor size).

Sigma takes ca. 28mm fokal length for 50mm ff. comparism.
Canon (1D) ca. takes 38mm also for 50mm full frame comparism.

Since DOF ONLY depends on relative aperture, focal length, and magnification, this becomes quite clear.

The lower the focal length is, the broader the sharp area becomes.

The SIGMA needs fewer focal length than the CANON 1D to realize the same angle of vision, if same angle of visions are compared.

.... complicated maths ... certainly!

See you with nice pictures
