Contax AX

Hi,
I have a contax AX that I got a couple of years ago. Lately the autofocus is giving me trouble, It hunts a lot and sometimes just keeps hunting. I was wondering if any of you had experience repairing the camera and what it would cost. Would it be worth repairing or keep it as a manual focus body or sell it real cheap as a parts camera? any thoughts? Anyone interested
in a manual focus AX???

What lense are you using it with?

I have a 50/1.7 planar and a 28/2.8 distagon.
It used to work fine with these lenses before.
Thanks
Francis

Hello Colin,

WRT the AX being discountinued. No real source,
just noticed that the AX has been absent from
all the adds in Pop Photo and Shutterbug for the
last few months. Also, in Lars message of 10/1/02
he ended with "Get it while stock lasts".

Regards,

Paul

As I write this, there are a number of demo AXs available from B&H. The price is $599.

Does anyone have information about the Contax AX (and others) reburb/demos that are now being sold? Several dealers in Shutterbug magazine are advertising AX, ST, RX, G1, G2, and TVS models as either demos or reburbs. They are priced anywhere between USD$499 and $799 and come with a 1 year USA warranty. What's the story on these? Are they customer returns? Has anyone purchased one of these?

Thanks,
Dave
