Cormorants

All of them are great shots with the first one being my favorite. Was it cropped? I'm curious to see what the antlers are attached to.
A very good question ;) Yes I always crop bird shots and this one is out in the middle of nowhere on a river where there are two boat sheds with jetties. On one of those is a fixed stag skull, but of course it needed cropping to get what I posted in that shot.

So for you since you asked.......... hang on, I need to dig it out ........

All the best and curiosity put to bed I imagine :) Not quite as interesting.

Danny.

I like both versions. Thanks for showing both of them. I also crop all of my bird shots.

Choice...! ;)

The first shot is just terrific. Is it a Black Shag (aka Common Cormorant)? At least that’s what it looks like from my Collins Guide book that I bought while visiting way back in the 1980’s. My wife and I rented a camper and travelled all over the North and South Islands.

I also have an old friend who emigrated there from the UK and now lives close to Tauranga. We keep in touch regularly.

Great shots Danny. You have a lot of skill. Especially love the firs. Looks like a cormorant sitting on the horn of an off camera giant deer. But it’s only a tree.
Might pay to look at the shot above us uncropped Brandon.
