The Tamron 70-300 f/4.5-6.3 was fine. The low noise from the FF sensor made the slow aperture a non-issue, even though I had the shutter speed fixed to 1/250s. ISO varied between 1000 and 4000. As Dirk said, I didn't need the f/2.8 lens. Even at f/6.3 @ 300 mm, focus was missed sometimes.

Most images were resized to 1600 pixels on the long edge; I feel like that's big enough for sharing here.
