New Project 52 for 2024

Nice! Beautiful. I'll go with #1. Was there a special viewing area for this? A big crowd of people? How is the balloon controlled? Where did it land -- or is it going to hover for 4 years and then fly to Los Angeles? :)

Thanks, John. This balloon could be seen next to the Louvre Museum, Place de la Concorde and Rue de Rivoli. During the day, it remained in the Jardins des Tuileries, but every evening, as night fell, it rose to an altitude of around 60 m. It was tethered, so it always stayed in roughly the same place. This procedure will resume shortly with the Paralympic Games. What will happen to it after those games is not clear.

By the way, did you know that the flame is made of vaporized water and LED light?

A couple of Hobie's in the foreground... nice! Fun and colorful. Where did you take the picture? Somewhere on the north coast from Brest to Dunkirk or south between Brest and Biarritz/Bayonne? Or somewhere else?

This picture was taken in Quimiac, close to La Baule. Geographically it is in the south of Britany but administratively it is in the Pays de la Loire.

Yes, I see it on the map. Thank-you. I like the geography lessons. I am familiar with the major shipbuilding operation nearby in Saint-Nazaire and also GE wind turbines.

35/52: Fish ladder viewing area at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks. The picture is a little bit "out of square" since I was not standing exactly in the middle or parallel with the glass. Plus, the angled recess of the concrete creates additional weird angles. There are people passing by to look at the fish, so I was trying to take a quick shot without anybody in front of me. And of course, once I had taken the picture and moved along, things quieted down and there were fewer people. It was fun to go for a look. I had not been to "The Locks" for several years.
