Yes you are correct, it's an Australian Darter aka snake bird (due to the long snaking neck I guess) and I believe as an Aningha in the USA.

Nice Cormorant Picture! We've been seeing a lot of them around Chicago lately also!

Since Cormorants are the theme of the week, here is one coming in for a landing

Exif is almost completely wrong - was D300 camera, but with Tamron 300mm f/2.8 and TC-16a teleconverter

Tamron EF mount lenses don't get recognised by some software especially when a TC is attached. I use DXO Photo Lab 6 for processing and it thinks it's either a Sigma or a Canon lens lol.

Thanks Paul! The only way to distinquish male from female is by size as the female is somewhat smaller than the male. Both male and female have the long plumes in the neck during the breeding season.

that makes sense! This is even more messed up since the TC-16a is a modified teleconverter that defaults to 145mm and f/4 so it can give the last bit of autofocus for that Adaptall lens from the 80's

This is a Willie Wagtail captured using the pre-shot feature of my Fujifilm camera.
Converted to B&W in DXO Photo Lab 6.

It was one of a pair that had a nest in a hidden location nearby (I couldn't see it but they kept flying in and out from there)

Not sure if this is the same bird or the mate as they were continually on the move.
