Public market - permission vs. candid

A. Before I left the U.S. an 80-year-old man was told he couldn't be in the park when kids with a day care center, and a supervisor, were there. The crime? A woman said he hadn't done anything but it looked suspicious. Fortunately, there are places left that aren't totally insane.

I quit carrying my "proper" camera perhaps three years ago. I simply got time of toting lens and paraphernalia. Now I just shoot with my Sony and have a lot of fun and no problems.

The problem with the US right now is not that freedoms are on the decline, but that people feel entitled to something they're not entitled to. (willful ignorance) In the bigger cities, police don't have time to deal with fights stemming from this, so you could get beaten up and have your camera smashed and the cops won't care.
So, in effect...freedoms are on the decline.

Frankly, I can't understand why anyone has issues with street photography, or feels a need to ask for permission before taking the shot. Here are some example of my street photography.
....
What am I missing in this discussion? ;)

Peeps? haha.
OK. Thread creep here. Noticed your pix of doors on your flicker acct. Liked them. Maybe start a "doors" thread on Samples and Galleries sub-forum?

Since I don't do much photography of strangers encountered on the streets a while back I started a collection of pics of empty roads and sidewalks etc. just for fun. I've been waiting for a chance to make a feeble joke with them for a while. I think I might have posted in this thread and stayed on topic just after it started.

Thanks for nice comment on some of the doors in my Flickr account. I've only been adding to it since this site was created and I've got a long way to go working through years of older stuff.
