Ricoh GR3 & GR3x - the dream team?

VITA NOVA 608 PP.jpg

Strolling through the old town of Kempten . RICOH GRIII .

An other one . Kempten is a beautiful city .
I find it rather difficult to shoot in the old narrow streets . The GR III lens is just wide enough , but sometimes I wish I had more width .
Has anyone experience with the 21mm WA adapter ?

New / Play Nice

Just switched over to GR3 HDF and GR3x HDF from Fuji X-T5 and X70

Fuji Stuff is very sexy with the right lenses but not the set up for me (that said the X70 is / was a banging pocketable camera albeit knocking on a bit)

The Ricoh's are quality. I won't go over stuff that's been stated regarding shortfalls a million times. I purchased them with my eyes open. They are very easy to like.
I took the 3x out first, walked around, took pictures, no big deal, wasnt sure the 3x crops and FL would do it for me, but when I looked back at the pictures I was super impressed, especially with the B&W rendition, how it dealt with contrasting light, and the crops (71mm is rockin)

I took the 3 out today, similar situation, ended up in a church. I got the 3 because it's roughly the same FL as the X70 and I liked that. Once again started playing with the crops and Film simulations and can see what everybody is talking about. To my untrained eye the snaps look great. Started a bit of a love affair with the 35mm crop (very unusual for me) The Film simulations are solid. Still working on the HDF. Its early days but tending to prefer off as opposed to on. Obviously that may change.

The Fuji stuff is good gear but I didn't like the bulk or the Operating System. Interestingly Ive taken more pics in the last few days than I did with the Fuji stuff in the last 6 months.
I also over the years owned 3 variants of the X100 series. See line above and try putting one an X100 in a pocket or looking discreet.

I am keen to know from real world X3 / X3x users what editing software works well with the GR RAW (DNG) and JPEG files. Strong points for me would be Good DNG conversion, Good JPEG editing (I am aware this is limited so possibly cropping / tickling) Nik plug in compatibility, Mastin Labs plug in compatibility, Good noise / grain handling (I like the noise the camera generates and am not wanting to output perfect pics but the option to tickle it in a nice way could be useful, cropping and culling ease of use.

Hope this post is not inappropriate or in the wrong place.

I use the GR3 and GR3x regularly. I love them both. I I would be forced to sell all my photo equipment, these two would leave last.

I do not do any photo editing with the GR images. I like the Jpegs ooc alread and these two little champions are made to not bother with photo editing, if you do not want to.

The Ricoh GRs are about enjoying photography without any hassle. From carrying 2 very small and light bodies over excellent and easy handling up to the final excellent images without any extra post work.

I agree with your comments. I really don't want to get into post tbf. I do like the jpegs. I would want to crop them (Im not that good, but don't mind imperfection) I may also want to push them further (not always) I am interested in the Provoke, Tatsuo Suzuki, William Klein look for certain things (Im just learning at 62 lol) I do feel I would like to experiment with the camera output. As I get to know the camera's further I may be able to achieve this in camera. I absolutely agree that simplicity is key. All the software that is usually mentioned are generally pants at culling and keeping (this has been my experience) I just wondered if a converter for GR 3 DNG had been identified as better (iIn general) than the rest (I appreciate its subjective) The problem is the Ricoh's have got me excited again. So I'm probably trying too hard. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Its appreciated.
