Ok, so I put film in the camera and the dot went away.....no mention in the manual about it.

I do not own a M7, but I know that the dot will be back if you change = film speed to anything else but "DX".
An often disliked "feature".

Does anyone know if the M7 will select a shutter speed when in aperature mode and with flash in TTL? Another words does the meter still work or does it default to 1/50th? The meter in my Nikon F3 shuts off when the flash is on. I rented a N90s for a job yesterday and it felt cheep in my hands. I'll spare you the complaints. Why couldn't Leica get a flash sinc of at least 1/125? Is it the type of shutter they use or not enough space?

the slow X-sync is a result of the hyped silent, horizontal moving shutter. When the camera actuates flash, the whole 24x36mm frame has to be "naked". This means that the 1st curtain must have travelled the whole 36mm, but the 2nd curtain must be still in starting position. At anything shorter than 1/50, the 2nd curtain starts before the 1st one reaches the end.
Nevertheless, if the to-be-illuminated-main-subject is in the middle of the frame, but not at the edges, you can flash at shorter exposures. Try out if 1/125 works well, I think anything shorter will not.

Till's technique worked with cameras up to the M6. For the M6TTL and M7, it won't. The flash will not fire if a shutter speed faster than 1/50 is selected.

I hope to give you some information about the flash sinc with the Leica M7.
Everything I've read before is right, but there's something to add.
You can have a sinc on all times simply using the HHS (High Speed Sincronization). The only thing needed is a SCA adapter 3501. It is integrated in the Leica SF20 flash unit. It is possible (and recomended by the same Leica) use a Metz 54 MZ3 flash unit. In this case i can't tell you if the SCA is intergrated in the flash unit, but I think it's easy to know from your dealer.
Sorry for the non complete information, but I use Leica also for avoiding using flash, so that I have no direct experience.

Your statement that the HSS works with the SF20 is incorrect. The HSS only works with the Metz 54 MZ3. That clearly stated even on their website, no reason for confusion here.

If it isn't I beg your pardon.
As said, I'm not a flash user, since I will never understand (and don't want to understand) why it is needed with lenses f:1 or f:1,4.

Once again, does the meter work when the flash is on? Even if only for speeds of 1/50th or below.
