Just a question : is it possible to use a polarizing filter on a telemetric camera ?

check out http://www.photo.co.nz/2ndhand/2ndproduct.asp?idc=4&idm=197 here in Christchurch, NZ, where they have an M4-P with 50 Summicron for NZD2495, an an M3 with 2.8 Elmar for NZD2250 and an M6 TTL for a shade over NZD3000. NZ dollar is about 49US cents. Guy to contact is Robbiee who is a very keen Leica user.

seem like very good prices, but I don't need any more at the moment...

> Sorry that exchange rate is more like 59c - the US dollar has fallen sharply. Halve the NZD rate then add a bit.

Hi David,

Thanks for the excellent advice and the links! I'm planning to go back to the camera shop this weekend to play around with both the M6 and the TTL.

I had no idea the US dollar was sliding so much! A year ago on US$ bought 2 NZ$s and two years ago it bought 2.5. Today it buys NZ$1.73, according to x-rates.com. Not good news for me as I am hoping to take a trip around the world next year.

Craig, the M4-P looks like a very interesting option as well, but I'm not sure I can handle the lack of an on camera meter just yet. One step at a time. :)

I'll let you know when I get the camera!

Thanks for the info guys. I have been advised that the cheaper used M6 bodies are likely to have been used alot by pros and the shutter may be getting worn out by daily use. Or is that just the sales spiel at the shop to try and make me head for a mint M6??

Leica make a thing called “Universal Pol. M†with adapters for E39 & 46 filter sizes only (#913356). It is also quite expensive.

There that’s the extent of my knowledge, Craig

Unfortunately this is offset by the June 1st price increase on new Leicas because of the dollar's slide against the Euro. But for used cameras, yes it's nicer for foreigners to buy American cameras right now.

Hello Folks,

Just a line to say what a great forum. Have caught the rangefinder bug from using Canon 7 now in for repair. Am a guy with a disabilty living in Bristol UK - would like to get well used M3 even if I have to sell all my other gear!! Like to uses longer lenses from 50mm upwards. Great to use a camera with no buzzing and beeping! Some of the best shots of my kids are with the rangefinder - and I only have one and a bit hands. I take better shots with rangefinder than with EOS1N HS! What that says I don't know. Maybe I'm about to break the bank Hi Hi! Thanks again for great group.
