Sonny.
BEAUTIFUL arrangement.. SMART too...because I'll bet that lens holds at LEAST a quart of water!!

Wish somebody would send me a floral arrangement like that one...

Early after their invention, coated lenses were often referred to as "bloomed" lenses.
However, I think your picture better fits the description! Who'd have thought that Oscar Barnak was such a precision flower arranger.

Kinda gives you a whole new perspective on the word "bokeh" doesn't it? :-)

I most humbly and unreservedly apologize for bring up the vase thing.

This said, perhaps Leica camera manuals could incorporate a presentation suggestion section for the collectors market. This way, collectors would actually get some practical use from their purchase.

Just to keep things relevant to the thread, the M5 being a bigger camera would make a more stable base for more substantial presentations.

I believe the 90mm Elmar would be a better holder for a single stemmed rose type presentation, rather than the 135 ex&le provided above.

beging forgiveness craig

Dear Craig,

If one removed the optical head of the Elmar 1:4/135 and used only the helical focusing mount I think it would be possible to hold a lily!

> Before someone was gracious enough to take the F5 off my hands I considered using it as a boat anchor! In fairness I still do have an F3!

The absolute proper way to display flowers in your M camera. It just takes the correct focal length Elmar.

Where would we be without Photoshop..........

Personally, My favorite is still the famous coke bottle, cut and mounted on an M adapter......

The perfect "vase" for summer wild flowers will be the just announced(By Irwin Pyts) Digital back for the R8/R9. The image will be APS sized, the same as can be had for $100.00 or less anywhere. If this is considered {"Leica Standards" by Solms, I fear we are in deep trouble. Encourage your Independent Leica Service Person to stock up on parts for I fear Solms will go to way of Packard, Studabaker, and Rolls Royce.

Dear Ebernezer

You are a wicked evil man with a good sense of humour.

No one will buy it. Unlike the M5 for good reason this time. What is the point of using a good Leica lens on a CCD sensor that can only resolve didly squot.

A decent neg/slide scanner would be good idea, but a digital back?.

Better they put their resources into developing an SL 3 (mechanical or combined mech/electronic camera with horizontal travel shutter).

No rightminded collector is going the help make an APS CCD censor back profitable. Don't tell me they are going to use CMOS.

Yours in disbelief, craig
