Using a 645

has anyone heard any concrete evidence about a revival in the contax brand yet? i'm quite curious to buy a 645kit,and would hate to see a monopoly between canon & hasselblad worldwide.

Hi All

I have a Contax 645 system with the 45, 80, 120, 140, and 210mm lenses

I have some questions:

1) What is the pre flash feature in Contax 645?

2) I am interested in getting the Hasselblad / Contax MAM-1 adapter. Who made it? Where can one get it? I have seen some Hasselblad / Contax 645 adapters on Ebay. They are manufactured by the Kindai International. Is this the same adapter? Will it give the same functionality as the MAM-1 adapter?

3) Are all Hasselblad lenses fitted to the Contax 645 using the MAM-1 adapter, operated in stopped down metering mode? I assume this means that you focus in fully open aperture. Then manually set the aperture to the desired f/stop - for metering, and then take the picture. Alternatively you focus with the aperture stopped down. Can any of the Hasselblad lenses types (C, CF, CFi, CFE, F and FE) be used with automatic stopping down of aperture? This is necessary for quick exposure.

Regards
Mark
