Where has everyone Gone

All Contax / Yashica owner's would do well to read about a similar fall from grace back in the early ninties by "Olympus". There's an interview with "Maitani" the guy the desinged the system (find it on Google). He talks about going from 48,000 units (bodies) a month to the plant working just a couple of days a week to eventual plant abandonment. He had some interesting ideas, wanted a whole series of f2 lenses from super wide to macro, you can see prototype images of an OM camera similar to the Rollei 2000F. At the time he said it was too late to go back the manufacturing costs had become too high..in terms of the Contax manual focus system it's probably too late here too.

Hi Friends,
Any advice on Mutar 1 & 2 ?. Which one to buy. What,if any, loss of quality. If so,at what size print this would become apparent. Main use will be with 135mm lens for closer wildlife shots.
Your feedback will be very helpful.
Best wishes,
Gordon.

Dear members,

please stick to the topics. If a topic is not covered yet, open a new thread in the appropriate section. Otherwise it is too difficult for others to find an already discussed questions afterwards.

Gordon,

I have just this morning received back my first photos taken with the Mutar II and a CZ 135mm. And I have to say I am initially very pleased with the results. I seem to have overcompensated slightly for any loss in light of which there is less than i expected, thus I have some overexposure.

Contax and CZ recommend the Mutar II for the 135mm (rather than the Mutar I).

In general I find it to be an excellent combination and a great money saver - it is a little on the heavy side though!

Hi Antony,
Thanks for the feedback. It is a big help getting the opinions of others. 300mm would be the maximum I need so 270mm will be near enough. There are several s/h models knocking about and it would be a much cheaper option than going for the 300mm lens. Good Luck.
Gordon.
