Which scanner do you use Photokina news

Hello Dirk,
I presently don't scan or print, but I do have a wish list. To my knowledge, no company is making a combination slide/negative scanner that is also a printer. If you see such a machine at Photokina, would you let us know. One other request for such a dream machine would be state of the art printer that will print 11"x14"

why should such a device be produced? epson 2450 scanner and 1290s printer is cheap and does the job perfectly.

I am considering purchasing a Nikon Coolscan IV ED film scanner. Does anyone out there have experience using this scanner with a Mac G4, OS X? Advice?

Other scanner recommendations for OS X?

Joe,

I know this is a late response, but I just found this thread. I have a Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED and it works fine with OSX. Its also a great scanner. If my memory is correct, the driver (available from the Nikon Site) was not updated for OSX compatibility until somewhere around the time you wrote your post.

I don't know if one is available for the IV ED, but if you check Nikon's site in the driver download area you can find out.

I have the Canon FS4000: 4000/dpi, affordable, hardware assist for scratch removal. Here is my reference s&le ((866367 bytes) with 1x scale crops:

Details: Contax RTS III, P50/1.4 @ f/5.6, tripod, Kodak Gold 100. 8x multiple-pass scanning reduced noise, especially in the sky, but took 15 minutes.

A better scanner for me would have continuous roll feed, better Dmax, and even higher resolution. Ordinary neg film has no info beyond 4000/dpi, but I want to shoot Pan F and Tech Pan. The upcoming Minolta scanner sounds great, but it will be costly.

If so I have a G system, three lenses (35,45,90), flash, bag and Dimage Scan Dual II for sale along with some Yashica SLR lenses. If not, I apologize.

Nikon Coolscan IV ED with 2900 DPI and Digital Ice. Very pleased.
