DJ,
Thanks for the information. Again, this is more confirmation to be as to the CA on the Leitz wide angle lens is not as well controlled as the way the Zeiss Distagon T* lens.
Chi,
I tested the 50 and the 60th Anniversary and they are both very sharp lens. My good friend David also have tested his two versions of the Zeiss Planar T* 85mm F1.2 Anniversary and he also confirmed with the results. There are two areas that the 50th and the 60th Anniverary are different:
1) The 50th Anniversary when stop down to F2.8 the special Ninja star blade of the aperature opening are gone while the 60th Anniversary still have the Ninja Star instead of the hex or regular octagonal opening. This feature is very unique to Zeiss lens that almost all of them have this feature thus contributing to the beautiful bokeh. The Leica Apo-Summicron-R 90mm F2.0 do not have this feature when stop down at high speed f stops. Thus, I agree with you that Zeiss glass yields beautiful bokeh.
2) The Zeiss Planar T* 50th anniversary have a more purple color multicoating while the 60th Anniversary have a more deep coating with greenish colors.
Yes, I agree with your statement about the astigmatism and skin tone rendering. For ex&le, even the Canon EF 85mm F1.2L yield a more pleasing skin tone than the Canon EF 85mm F1.8. Sometimes it goes beyond sharpness that makes the lens very special. Thus, the Zeiss 85mm F1.2 Anniversary is a very special lens that yield very sharp images and yet render pleasing skin tone and magnificent bokeh at wide open f stops.
