3 new Olympus DSLRs

Now there's a thought. That would be useful.
I think they need to make the viewfinder bigger and brighter though.

BJ: Thank you so much for setting me straight. Do I need to issue a more formal apology?

Dude, lighten up. Guess I should have put a smiley in ... this internet stuff is so serious!

And, the answer is TWO the 410 and 510.

And, they are working on the E1 successor currently called the P1 and a number of new lenses.

I was given demonstrations of both the E400 and the E330 the other day in a local store. The E330 was discounted and being sold off as discontinued which I thought was surprising as it is quite a new model and has the unusual Live View feature.

I thought the E400 was a very pleasant little camera which would be ideal for carrying around everywhere but the viewfinder is very small. I found it quite bright and could likely get used to it.

The viewfinder on the E330 seemed quite a lot bigger but not as bright. I liked the idea of the live view and being able to take waist level shots on the LCD.

I wonder why the viewfinder in the E330 is bigger and feel that as they can do it on the complicated E330, Olympus should be able to improve it on the E400.

I liked the E400 as a camera despite the need to go into menus to change settings. (Moan, why can we not just have aperture rings and shutter speed dials and a dial for modes?)

I liked the E330 too although it is quite a lot bigger and heavier.

Does any one know if the aperture ring on the Leica lens works with the E400?

I think I will wait though as probably everyone will now and see what the new models are like first.

In-camera stabilization, what a great addition! Sure, with a 300mm lens you want it in the lens, but it is great to get IS on all of the existing short-end FFL and Zooms with the E-510.

I'm most intrigued by the new f2 14-35 lens - I sure hope I can afford that one as I was quite crestfallen to see the price on the 35-100 when it came out. A 28-70 (35mm equiv) at F2 is realizing the promise of the all-digital four-thirds system if you ask me. http:// www.dpreview.com/news/0703/Olympus/ED14-35mm.jpg

I'm very stoked at the new Olympus bodies and the new lenses. I have not seen any pictures from the new cameras yet, but I like the looks of 'em. I hope they deliver with the 'P1' too, though for me the lower-end bodies are more what I need (small and feature rich and affordable).

I'm sure everyone has seen the info and previews on dpreview already... but here are the links anyway:

Hi John,
You were certainly spot on with your forecast of an E-410 with live preview- insider knowledge? The E-410 might explain why the E-330 I saw was being sold off as discontinued. It does sound an attractive camera.

> I'm an Olympus dealer and afaik, the 330 is not discontinued. I was guessing on the 410/510 features as live view seems to be a very popular feature of the 330.

Spot on guesses. They both look attractive cameras to me and I am looking forward to being able to try them out when they are in the shops. I liked the live view on the 330. I think it could be a useful feature although it must be very complicated and I hope it is reliable.
