CM Zoom vs Minilux zoom

Just put a 35mm lens on your Leica M and stick it in your pocket. World's finest P & S camera ever made. If your pockets are smaller, get a CL

Hi guys. i just broke down and bought the CM Zoom. to be honest, the legendary R9 (which i have owned for the last seven months) failed me miserably in spontaneous situations with low light since i was left to estimate the focusing of the image, even though i have an f/1.4 50mm lens. my hope is that the CM will deliver spontaneity to my photography due to the sorely-missed AF feature. also, the compactness is a feature i crave.does anyone know if it will be possible to have this camera refinished in a tacky non-slip rubberized finish to enhance the handling?for the record,i will be diligently comparing the picture quality of the CM Zoom vs R9. because i am not interested in creating special effects, the R9 may be overrated in terms of my personal needs.all i really care about is the sharpest, clearest pictures possible.any feedback will be greatly appreciated!!! Joe

Hi. Gray, you were right on target regarding one of the major flaws of the CM Zoom.the viewfinder is indeed outrageously limited in scope.and to try to read numbers inside there is asking a lot. the other downer is the series of buttons adjacent to the LCD readout screen. what a terrible design.the buttons are plasticky and difficult to engage.a better choice would have been a slightly raised set of buttons with a tacky, rubberized texture that have a definitive click when pressed. but on the positive side, i like the feel of the body as well as the sound of the shutter releasing. now comes the moment of truth---as i turn in this first roll of film for processing. and you all know i will not sugar-coat my findings.......

I AGREE RE THE RUBBERIZING, BUT HARDLY A DEAL BRAKER. I HAVE PROCESSED MY FIRST ROLL AND USED A DISCOUNT 1 HOUR SHOP , I JUST COULD NOT WAIT. RESULTS WERE UP TO LEICA STANDARDS AND MET MY MAIN CRITERIA FOR PURCHASING ie A FAST POINT AND SHOOT WITH ABOVE AVERAGE IMAGES.

Anybody else with comments about the CM zoom? Has anyone come across a review on the web?

Hello, everyone. can anybody tell me if it is o.k. to use the Metz SCA flash unit with the CM Zoom? this is the same one i use on my R9. or is there the possibility of damage? by the way the Zoom takes excellent photos. any feedback will be much-appreciated!! Joe

Hi! I just want to ask if anyone know whether the SF20 flash works well on CM Zoom?
I know that it doen't got GNC but just wondering if the "A" mode works well.
Thanks.
