Contax RXII

"RXII will not be available at any time in Europe"

mmmmmhh...

the only logical reason I can think of for this is, that there might be still enough "old" RX in Europe and the US in the shelves.

Although 20% brigher viewfinder might be really interesting in low light situations. So we have to stay either with the RX - or for the die-hard collectors - buy the RXII over the internet in Asia. This is nowadays no big deal anymore. with the internet EVERYTHING is possible.

But if you look at all these news/rumors, it might make sense to make a poll in the future about "your dream Contax" and send it to Contax.

The wish list for the G3 in this forum became very interesting. Many different arguments.

This is an idea I have to think about in the future. But it should be then via a real rating/polling system about certain features to get a better overview what the majority really wants to have, i.e. I want to have the RTS II of 1982 back

Hi all Contax fellows :

Maybe we are all focusing on RX-improvement. From the point of the view I see, the best way is to integrate to AX with RX. In fact, the AX is an almost perfect camera but .... too big sometimes. If Kyocera can reduce the size of AX to get a real AX-II or RX-III. This will be a good news to us. It also enlongers the life of Manual focus Lenses. I do not see the negative point as a user of Contax. Unluckily, it will be a business dilemma to Kyocera. The said enhanced AX would surely the impact to N-series marget. All business people are expecting people to keey buying new stuff from the market. So the decision maker will not give up the N-series market, even part of it, to the old manual focus lens market because MF lens is also reaching saturation.

Anyway, I hope my dream of AX-II comes true.

Francis.

what saturation? new people are growing and could buy new cameras or old ones. if they are as perfect like the contax-system

you mean rx-digital-5 mio-pixel for 1000 usd? come-on industry must make money to survive and develop new ideas. there were years when pentax offered new bodies every half year. then they stopped doing this. btw: contax N digital was offered these day in switzerland for 12000chf(around 8000 or less usd.

> What I mean is an RX II that doesn't make me buy all new lenses and the body not cost, as you stated, $8000.00 USD when the 14MP full frame > Kodak/Nikon lensed digital is announced to be $4000.00 USD.

FYI:
I emailed Kyocera asking about a mirror lock up, the answer is below. I seems as if the new 2s self-timer works as a mirror pre-release.

Question:

Dear Madam or Sir,

Is there a mirror pre-release function (as a substitute for mirror lock up), for ex&le in the new 2s self timer feature or in any other way?

Bernhard Mayr

Answer:

Dear Dr.Bernhard Mayr,

We are sorry that there is no mirror pre-release function itself. However, 2 seconds self-timer has been added to the drive dial. It can be used for a cable release in the situation like a landscape shooting or for preventing camera shake.

Question:

Dear Yoshiko Omaru,

Does that mean, when I use the 2 seconds self-timer, that the mirror will go up immediately after the release button was pushed 2 seconds before the shutter opens (essentially as it works on the FX-3 models)?

Bernhard May

Answer 2:

Dear Mr.Bernhard May,

Yes, the 2 seconds self-timer means what you say below. Thank you for your inquiry and deep concern for our camera.

Can someone tell me a website which sells the AX II? I don't see it listed on any of the main websites I know and calling them for info causes me to be put on hold limbo.
