Hi Ritch Ditch,

unfortunately, that was a misunderstanding on my part. The other member is using Chrome an a Mac, not Safari. But Chrome on Mac works flawless with this addon.

I'm pretty sure this forum will be my forum of choice coming over from DPReview. I just have 2 issues.

1) It takes a while to scroll through the forum list. I liked where dpreview showed you all the forums on a one-page dropdown - no scrolling necessary to choose one.

2) The lack of exif info on posted photos is an issue. Exify is not a viable option, at least for me. I would like to see the info as you hover over the image as on dpreview.

Otherwise I really like this forum.

Blufftonian:
I think we are all slowly finding our way round the structure of this forum, I understand some are finding it more difficult than others, but give it time like all new things.

1) I notice you prefer the other forum way where you could scroll through a list. Me on the other hand, I found that here with the 'What's new' I was interacting with sub-forums I would otherwise not go in on the other forum. Big plus for me.

2) I don't know if the forum is going to have an in-house 'exif info hover' but I'm sure they are aware of the need.

Glad to be aboard myself. :)

Thanks for your reply.

For 99.9% of the time on DPReview I only ever visited 3 Nikon forums, and the Nature and Wildlife forum. Now I have to scroll down through about 3 pages for the Nikon ones and 8 pages for the Nature one. I mean it's hardly the end of the world, but I'd like to get there faster. Of course, maybe - like you - I should broaden my horizons.:)

As for exify, well yes it works but if I load it as a browser extension then the exif data shows for every other image on every other browser tab. It's not what I need or want. To have a digital photography forum not elegantly show metadata is a significant negative.

Okay, to see just the forums I'm interested in I can "Watch" them, without sending any notifications to me. When you enter a forum there is a button on the right hand side under the egreen "Post Thread" button that lets you do this.

That way I can select "Watched forums" from the Forums drop-down and see just my interests.

So that's my first issue taken care of.

Not sure I understand you right, but it would be good to be able to collapse some sub-furums so you could scroll down quicker to the forums you like (phpbb does it). Just teething problems I guess at the moment, dirk is willing to work with us all to get the community working as a whole.

What I meant was that if I click on the "Forums" item in the menu bar, I have to scroll down through the list of forum names to find what I want. There are about 20 entries before the first Nikon forum, and about another 30 before I come to the Nature forum. As I said it's not a huge deal but I'd like a faster way. And by "watching" only the forums I'm interested in I can do it. Having set my favourite forums to "Watched" I can hit the little "down triangle" on the Forum menu and just pick "Watched Forums" to get a shortened list of only what I'm interested in.

I hope that makes sense.

As you pointed out the "What's new" control is very useful too.

My experience as well. Before this new site I stayed only in a single forum. But the What's New option has taken me into other forums and that is enjoyable.

Thanks for pointing out the Watched Forum feature which I had not noticed. I've set it up for three forums and will enjoy not having to scroll way down to find my preferred forum.
