Logic be damned I bought an ND

I finally made the jump and bought a new in box ND on ebay. I look forward to getting the camera and rereading the posts which pertain on how best to use it.

congratulations!

I was watching this auction too, but can not afford one at the moment. The same dealer was selling 4-6 weeks ago another brand new ND, so I guess if others are interested, they should watch ebay closely also in the future. Prices are coming down and are getting more and more realistic compared to other DSLRs

IMO the ND is nowadays a well balanced compromise. You give up a little bit with the ND in terms of comfort, MP and speed compared to a Canon DSLR (i.e. 20D), but you get for this a real fullsize chip and the full compatibility to the Zeiss N-lenses. The last 2 points are for me very important

Welcome to ND mania Mark. I would have bid on that ND had my e-bay been working (very strange). It's like the Gods of photography wanted you to have that camera and not me ; -)

Side note, just got my Ec Focusing screens for the Canon digital's, and wow is it now easy to focus the Contax manual lenses.
 
I JUST opened my Brightscreen w/ microprism for my 1DsII so I'm dying to go out and check out my new Zeiss MM lenses too. We finally got decent weather in the NYC area. Unfortunately work has been a challenge (albeit a positive one at least) so I'm looking forward to some Zeiss quality time this week-end.
 
DJ, will be in NYC this weekend !!! Staying at the Plaza before they turn it into condos. Call me there if you're around. Maybe we can squeeze in an hour of shooting.

Excellent, and danged! I have a floorful of guests for the next week & a half. But maybe I can escape on Saturday. Sunday I have these all-day functions (my international meditation group meets here twice a year). I hate to admit I haven't been in the city in over two years! I guess it's about that time. Can you take some time off Saturday?

I'm taking 1DsMKII and Contax manual lenses I just bought new on sale: 85/1.4, 25/2.8, 60/2.8 Macro (added to the 28-85, I picked up used). All the adapters came in yesterday and are now mounted ready for NYC.

Here's one of Irakly to test the 85/1.4
