Logic be damned I bought an ND

Will we be able to see the results when you are both done..? Would be very interested :o)

Marc, Please let me know a good place where I can buy new MM lens.

DJ, please keep us posted how the BrightScreen work. It cost 5 times more, I am dying to know and want one myself.

Rodney, you need to check ebay or get the new ND from London for Japan dealers. The more I shoot with the Canon, the more I like the ND. Being able to use the AF Zeiss lens and full frame is a big plus. I think the ND become a hot item these days, like all other Contax gears (after the Kyrocera announcement.) Also, if you are in the Canon forum, there are a wave of photogs interested in Zeiss lens for their Canon dSLRs.

Kent Demars, any update on your ND? Please post some pics when you have time. The photo gallery is getting lonely, anyone???

Have a great weekend.

Hi, I bought a ND a little over a month ago, here in Paris. The local Contax dealer has a deal going on for them: 1600 Euro with the 50mm 1.4, a 1gb flash memory card and a battery charger. This is inclusive of tax. This is for brand new items.

Eric

1.29 USD per Euro. That makes 2067 USD. Add 5% in general for change commission.

Here is a shot I took last weekend during an exhibition here in Paris. 200 ISO, 50mm. Quality is limited to the size limitation of this board.

Albert, this week-end will be a good way to check, as we'll be able to compare my Brightscreen with Marc's Ec, and he'll be doubled over in tears saying "You paid HOW MUCH for that???!!!"
lol.gif
.

Marc, it will take me about an hour to get to the Plaza. I'll call at 10 and leave you a message so you'll know I'm on my way. If you say yopu'll be out but be there by noon, then I can just scroll around and do some snapping til then.
See ya!

As far as gallery goes, if we shoot a Canon body with Contax lenses, can we post on both galleries, Dirk?

Marc Williams amid the bright lights ...

Would you buy a used lens from this guy???

Hell, yes! He is after all a great guy as I found out. But he's not selling his Zeiss 85/1.4, which rightfully should be mine ...

I had a geat time meeting Marc on a beautiful Central Park day. I actually hadn't been in the city for a couple of years, but he finally dragged me in. You can tell a good photographer because he also knows how to look good in front of the camera. Trust me, Marc looks a gazillion times better on either side of that Zeiss lens

. I finally got to check out my Zeiss lenses (and his), and I absolutely LOVE the combination, even with the manual focus / stop down metering. It actually is not as cumbersome as I first expected. I'll still keep a couple of L lenses for anything requiring fast shooting, but the Zeiss glass will be doing 90% of the light gathering chores ...

I'll be uploading some stuff to the Canon and maybe the Contax gallery if Dirk OKs posting Contax lens on EOS body images there.

Albert:

I really couldn't see a great difference between my Brightscreen and his Ec screen. We put the 85/1.4 on his 1DsII, the 35-70 at 70mm end on mine, and stopped both lenses to f4. I couldn't really tell switching between one body and the other.

DJ, Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun. Perhaps the BrightScreen will come thru in dim light situation. More pics??

Thanks for the update.

Hi all it's been a while.

Dirk I have attempted on several occasions to post to this thread via the e-mail reply button but have not been able to. I have to enter the forum to post. It's been that way for some time now. I do not know what the problem is.

Now that I'm here I do have a question. If one has not invested in L lenses or the ND what would be the recommended dig. camera option if one wanted to use Zeiss MM, Zooms, & mutars lenses. The MkII is quite heavy for general shooting and the 645 with back would be a serious contender for more serious work but not for gen. shooting. I'm searching for a d.cam that is lighter than the MkII and allows me to use my existing MM lenses. Does such a cam. exist? lol Any suggestions?

I hope I posted to the correct thread, if not please accept my apology.

G. Ashton
