Minolta Dual Scan III

I just recently got the Scan Dual III, and I can't even get the software to start. It keeps giving me an error stating that the door is open, when it is obviously closed. I have tried reinstalling the software and I also installed it on another computer and the same error keeps coming up. Any help would be appreciated.

My Dual III is brand new and worked fine for a while. Then a mesage came up saying it was not connected, however it was. I pluged/unplugged USB, AC in all combinations. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software but it still flashes and says its not connected.
Do I need seperate drivers installed, send it in for repairs or what?
