Dear Michael,

Can you provide an e-mail or web address for Eurobatteries please?

Regards,

Justin Scott

Thank-you Mike,

I had a look but couldn't find the PX13 or PX625, however have e-mailed a request. I will post the reply.

Sincerely,

Justin

As a ling-time leica user(49+ years), I recently fell madly in live with the M5. Having converted the battery casing to the more modern batteries, I am now committing the ultimate heresy. I am having the M5 bodies fitted with the M6/M7 .72 framing module to facilitate my use of the 75MM.
Will I be drummed out of the Leica Community?
I have no doubt lessened the value for "collectors" but, since i use them almost everyday, WHO CARES!!!

Dear Ebenezer,

If you take more and better photographs I support you.

There are still plenty of M5s for the collectors.

There is a similar argument in the vintage car movement as to whether modern (better and safer) tyres should be fitted etc. Converting the battery casing keeps the camera in use. I am considering doing the same to my four PX625 dependant cameras when I can no longer source that battery.

Best wishes,

Justin

Dear Michael,

Am in e-mail contact with eurobatteries and a supply is on the way.

Many thanks.

Justin

Dear Ebenezer,

I concur with Mr Scott. According to authorities like Helmut Gernsheim cameras were invented to make pictures. I believe vases are made as ornaments. Collectors are just confused over this minor distinction.

The great thing about Leica is the lack of planned obsolescence. It is almost absurd that it is still possible to fix a modern lens, like the 75mm, onto a thirty year old plus camera. And have the camera’s VF updated to accommodate it! How often do we take this for granted and how precious do we get over the authenticity of what is basically a light tight box with a focal plane shutter built in.

Best regards, Craig

Dear Craig,

The problems begin when collectors start using their Leica as a vase!
