Where has everyone Gone

Nickser ... saw those 3 shots. very nice. Wisteria is a lovely plant. Just planted my first one this Spring. Thought the downtown shot was very good ... w / the clock a very "timely" touch.

And regarding the other users who have "abandoned" this list. I simply look at it as a shame. I enjoyed their comments, but have to agree that I can't understand spending thousands on equipment and not going the extra $25 for a solid link to Kyocera!

Michael.

I am new here - just paid my $25 and hope to learn something from all. I just purchased a Contax NX with 28-80 and 70-200. I also own a G2 with 3 lenses, TLA flash and Data Back. I am thinking of selling the G2 outfit so as to have more $ for my NX system.
I also have a Metz 45-CL4 and the adaptors for Contax N1 - I hope it works on the NX.
Nice to meet you all.

Frank

Hi Frank, Welcome to the group.

Depending on your finances, it would be great if you could keep the G2 system. It is really a very complimentary system to the NX. (less obtrusive! - great optics!). I have both an N1, ND and the G2 and the 645 ... and find uses for all of them.

Good luck,

Michael.

Dear Contax fans,

we have a month full of vacation days - at least in Europe. Traffic is low on all our sites. Although I regret that a few members are temporarly absent, we have to respect that it is their own will and even if we might disagree with their decision, they are entitled to go their own way - will it be only temporarly or forever does not matter.

Anyway, I think a James Bond movie has a title "never say never again"

There have been always been different Contax places on the net. Before we launched Contaxinfo 2 years ago, there have been some sites around already for 4-5 years. Everybody had and has also today the choice to participate on different Contax communities. There is nothing bad about this. The only reason why we grew to the biggest Contax place compared to other places I think is the effort we stressed to achieve more than just to be an internet site. And we will continue to do so. And this is why we will continue to grow.

Postings will pick up over the time again exactly the same way like over the last 2 years. I strongly disagree if some might think a forum is only worth something if there is already content in it. 2 years ago we had zero content. Nevertheless we grew dramatically. So IMO the reason is that people with the same interest/ dedication to a specific hobby have here a home to meet each other. This is the real value added, not whether a G2 question is already answered in the past.

We now go even a step further. In the past, discussions at Contaxinfo have been driven in most cases from the technical side: what kind of gear to buy, how to use it properly or what is wrong with your gear. With the new forum structure we try to shift the weight more towards "photography" and slightly less weight on the "gear talk".

If you look at all the "gear" threads, you will rarely find a subject that has not been discussed yet at Contaxinfo.com in the past (this is by the way also a reason why traffic is not that high currently). So after a kind of "warm up" with the new forum structure, we expect to have a lot more traffic in the "presentation & photo tips" part of the forum, where people can finally ask specific question on the "how to" for certain shooting subjects incl. image-ex&les of how they managed to get this picture.

Also the "off-topic" section will be surely a good place to get in touch with other Contaxians without having a specific question about your gear.

We are working on even more things in the future, so wait and see within the next weeks/ months. We have proven that we go always a step further for our Contax users than anybody else, and we will continue to do so, do not worry about that

> Good to have you around Frank,

I own the G2 and all the lens but the 16mm. I love the system but have found myself using the N1 more lately. Just circumstances more then anything. I have never used the NX but if I were to sell my G system it would be for more N1 gear. I love the camera! I also have also owned the RTS, RTS III, RX and G1 and really like the N1 for SLR better then any of the others.

Many of us are basically lurking with nothing new to say. Frankly I don't mind the absence of provoked antagonistic discussion. Some of it is OK for a bit, but it gets repetitious and annoying quickly. Let's see if Kyocera gives us something to talk about.

DJ

DJ,
I think that about sums it up. We are lurking unless we have something to say or reply to or as Dirk says, people may be on holiday or busy.
I don't miss that kind of egotistic discussion either.

This just occured to me, perhaps most of us are outside takeing photographs and using our wonderful Contax gear, instead of sitting on our duffs looking at various websites.
