RAW Developer revisited

Also important is the fact there's now a horizon straightening tool and a crop tool in ACR. I recently did a wedding with 400 images and only had to open a dozen of them in regular photoshop for further corrections.

I was able to process any number of similar RAW images at the same time by using a menu that allows you to select what function gets applied to all of the selected images. While still there you can then select individual RAW images to apply other corrections, then hit "select all" and save to a separate file in any file format you want including Tiff, Jpg, or even DNG.

Incredible leap forward in quality and speed. The best processing/editorial tool out there now IMO.

Marc, have you also noticed the leap forward in noise reduction? i also think the facilities to adjust in ACR are now so useful (and the auto features are pretty good) that FAR fewer tweaks are needed in regular PS...with a consequent reduction in the sort of degradation that even occurs in 16 bit mode. Next: I am going to see if the 32bit facility can be used at all for those situations where two RAW files can be merged....

It applies to any digital image Dirk. PS is gaining ground swiftly with each new RAW converter version. Adobe is very aggressive.
RAW files shot at ISO 400 with the ND are quite usable now. For me, 400 is the threshold that was needed to be achieved for the ND. I don't care that much beyond that as I have Canon solutions which provide usable files even to ISO 3200.

Great to hear that Marc! So the ranking for DSLRs is shifting more and more for me. The better a Contax ND can get with ISO 200-400 (thanks to PS improvements), the less attractive is in my view any non-Contax DSLR- or lets say the less "logic" is a non-Contax for me (I own already the N-lenses).

Time to talk to my finance minister.

Unfortunateley she liked the Nikon D70 because it was so small and light...

Why women often do not like big, heavy solid made cameras?
