I liked being an only child--no sibling rivalries, and nobody messed with my toys! There are very many times that I’m happy to be “afflicted” by it.
Sorry mate... I just added another likeYes the site is still feeling its way and the activity is still mirroring the intrests of those that are actually visiting it. There was never going to be an instant replicaton of what dpr was offering and I doubt that that ever will happen. More likely the site will develop an aura of its own. But these are still early days and I would not see that there is any reason to worry about progress.
The main issue as far as I am concerned is a huge number of likes and not nearly as much chat. But I am aware that others may not have the time to do a lot of chatting so we all must do whatever they can reasonably manage. Whilst a like is a useful mark of 'seen and appreciated' it is not really an invitation to a conversation.
I think that's true. Right now I'm spending more time with my kayak than with my camera or my computer.Think a lot has to do with weather. It is summer time in the US. People spend more time outside and less time on "specialized" social media. I've noticed this trend on lots of forums. Including many non photographic ones.
Thanks,
barondla
It's that if I ask a question, I'll get responses
Maybe it's not a decline, but a lull (for whatever reason; school's out, etc.)? I'm still on DPPreview but haven't posted on it since joining here. I found a lot of nice friends there (and a few that I wish had migrated too), but I sometimes felt a little ill at ease about starting or engaging in conversations/light banter. It seemed very businesslike compared to our new home, and although I can pull off serious, I like this much better! And I'll be honest, as this is a REAL pet-peeve of mine: I don't ask for help unless I'm really stuck on something, and on the two occasions I had to resort to the old forum for a tech question, I was met with 'read your manual'. Then, why did you even bother to respond if that's the go-to answer? Unless it's 'press the red button', don't be so curt. Also, I always selected 'constructive criticism' and although I've appreciated the feedback I've gotten, I've seen them really RIP into some people unnecessarily. Still a member there but content here.... why has it seen such a recent decline in participation? I thought this was a good place to camp after drp announcement to close.
What are your thoughts?
I can only speak for myself but here it is.....
I suffer badly from imposter syndrome & rarely post any of my work as I don't feel its good enough
