Today with your Pentax

I have two photos.
They were taken yesterday but it was really late when I processed them so decided not to post last night.
K20 was my backup camera with a standard zoom. The shots have a softness to them with the slow shutter speed and the wind on the grass but I like them enough to post. Makes a change from Birmingham Street shots folks. THUNDERSTORMS CAME and so I only managed a few shots. Once the rain came it did not stop.

...That is bad news about the mark on your lens barrel. I would hate that too...
A couple days later and it still perplexes me. It's through the paint and looks like claw marks. I thought the zipper on my bag might have done it, but I tried to recreate it with a lot of pressure, and there's no way that nylon zipper could have accidentally created such a mark. Nothing inside the bag could have done it either as it's all smoothly padded. Still waiting on the paint pen and hopefully the colors will match, but as much as I baby my stuff to prevent such occurences, I guess they can still happen. Thanks for continuing to keep up with this thread with your comments... much appreciated!

I like your first image a little more due to the threatening sky. Stay dry!

I'm kind of upset tonight. I found a fairly decent size scratch on the barrel of one of my lenses that I don't think was there earlier today, and I can't figure out how it got there. It's just cosmetic, but given how much I baby my stuff and how hard I try to keep everything nice, it really twists my noodle. I've ordered a paint pen that should cover the damage easily, but the mystery remains... how long has it been there and where did it come from?
I have a lot of respect for somebody who shoots each day and can still keep their equipment pristine.

I'm afraid all my bodies and several lenses get dings and scratches. It doesn't seem to hurt them, and I call it "character," but, like you, I often wonder "how and when did that scratch get there?" I had a larger problem when i worked, as I flew various places several times each month, and the high frequency vibrations of the aircraft tended to loosen screws inside some lenses -- at leas that was what I was told by a repair shop. Banging around in the tank bag of my motorcycles probably doesn't help either with vibration and heat. My DA21 prime is a current victim of that, although it still seems to focus and image well. I suspect I'll eventually replace it as the KP with the DA21 prime is a combination I often have with me.

I've thought about vibrations, especially from walking, and whether or not that's sufficient to shake anything loose and cause random damage. Probably not in my lenses, as I have so many that any individual lens doesn't see enough to be significant, but I carry my cameras for an hour or two every day. So far no defects, except a scratch on the rear LCD of my black K-1 mII that came from a fall onto jagged rocks a couple years ago. Again, only cosmetic damage to the camera, and to my knee and elbow, both of which healed uneventfully.

It was a photo heavy day today. I took probably 40 photos in total, keeping 19. A dozen or so were shot in the backyard of the wife's arrangement of petunias in the sunlight, and the remainder were shot on the daily walkabout where I had a "getting to know you again" session with my telephoto lens. Here's today's catch.

Yes it is crazy expression on the girl on the slide "Priceless".
Great shots again. Keep them coming. Your flower shots are great. I have a ton of crap ones over the yrs.
Good luck tomorrow. It ain't easy doing what you do everyday to come up with yet more shots. Well done indeed.

June 13 2023. Wild discovery today. Using Kolari Vision full spectrum modified Pentax K-1 with Pentax SMC-A 15mm and internal 056 orange filter. This gives IR with wild color. Didn't realize IR could be taken without a bonafide IR filter. On other lenses I usually use Hoya R72. The 15mm doesn't take external filters. No telling what I can get with color channel mixing. ISO 100, F8, 1/40.
Thanks for looking,

Priceless expression. The decisive moment for sure. Love it.

Try to take care of my equipment but things happen. Weirdest thing happened to a friend. Took his Nikon film SLR with wideangle and telephoto zooms on a bicycle tour. Equipment was in a well padded camera bag and strapped to the bicycle rack. The telezoom quit working on the tour. When he got back we checked it out. The metal lens barrel had slightly warped. So the lens would bind when zoomed. This was a road bike - no off road riding. Lens was totalled. The camera body developed a problem also. It would lock up. Friend finally figured out if the camera got too hot it would misbehave. To keep shooting, he kept it in a ziplock bag in an ice cooler. He was touring the southwest US so it was hot.
Thanks,

Crazy stories about random camera damage, barondla. I worry too much... it's a problem.

I shot 26 photos today, tossed 12 and kept 14. One of my objectives for this month is to shoot less and keep more. Not sure I'm succeeding, but I was pretty happy with today's keepers.
Here's a couple for this challenge.

Regarding Camera Damage on bike tours = I was very lucky and had no damage that I know about. I used to tour on a bike always in my Film Days in the 1980s 1990s. It was not very hot though in Wales even in the summer very often when I did this.

Keep shooting Jason. I struggled today with my posts of Birmingham in quality but found 5 not too bad. Lots were very boring today and I mean BAD.
